Avengers Game Reviews: The Best and Worst of the Marvel Games

The Avengers Video Game

The Avengers video game releases in October and tells a story that seems to suggest it may be about Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, and since Marvel is putting out a new film every two years that could work to its benefit. The Avengers feature an interesting mix of good and bad things about it. Some aspects seem better than others. The game features well known characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Hulk. The voice acting is pretty good, however the storyline is weak. Overall the game is a mixed bag and with this much money spent on the game I hope they will be able to improve the storyline in the next game.

Is this Game Good for Kids?

First of all, let’s get this out of the way: Yes, this is a video game. But, it is also a role-playing game, and these things are very different. Because of the unique mix of genres, the play experience should not be expected to be the same for all players, particularly children. Of course, all gamers who played the Dragon Age games and everything Dungeons & Dragons should probably be able to handle it (see picture below), but we’re not going to talk about that. There will be some mild spoilers, but no real hard ones (like the one for the 2.5D classic, Dungeons & Dragons). The point is that this isn’t a game you can take your kids to, for one, and your kids might end up hurting themselves.

Detail Review about the Avengers Video Game

The gaming press often refers to the original game and graphic novel as an ongoing series. However, the limited scope of the story has resulted in some criticism over the years, especially in the wake of the movie and even in the subsequent sequel books and comics. This has mostly centered around the fact that virtually every character (other than Tony Stark, Thor, and Hulk, and a couple characters, like Loki and Captain America, who have stories in the movies) is removed from the game and only Iron Man and Captain America remain. While this issue might be annoying for players who have played the game multiple times, the game’s ability to provide a thoroughly satisfying story despite this limiting factor is probably more important.
